Assistant Vice President / Vice President - Risk and Control

Job description

​Our client is looking for an AVP/ VP - risk and control under their Customer Service and Operations division. Responsibilities include ensuring awareness and adherence to external regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks and policies, as well as overseeing the division’s risk, compliance, and audit activities. This role operates within the business and collaborates closely with internal stakeholders across the other three lines of defense.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Compliance:

• Drive awareness and compliance with regulatory requirements, risk frameworks, policies, and processes across various units within the division.

Subject Matter Expertise:

• Serve as the subject matter expert for risk and compliance within Operations.

Operational Review:

• Independently review operational processes and procedures for risks, mitigating controls, and regulatory compliance.

Risk and Compliance Activities:

• Collaborate with different departments to ensure the completion of various risk and compliance activities such as Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Key Risk Indicators (KRI) reviews and reporting, and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) reviews and testing.

Audit Coordination:

• Lead and coordinate efforts across the division in preparation for and during all internal and external audits and inspections.

Training and Development:

• Train and equip their team on risk and compliance matters.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Effectively engage and work with stakeholders such as Business, Risk & Compliance, and Internal Audit.

Requirements

Educational Background:

• University degree in a related discipline or equivalent.

• Recognized professional qualification in risk and controls is advantageous.

Experience:

Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong working knowledge of risk management, control, and the three lines of defense.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
